Handling & Maintenance
How should I care for my Precision Reflectors?
Treat Precision Reflectors like optical elements. Always use the protective sleeves, avoid fingerprints, and clean regularly with a C-Cleaning cloth or sponge.
What's the best way to clean my reflectors?
- Precision Reflectors Gen1 (Before May 2025): Clean with isopropanol and the C-Cleaning cloth. Use a pump spray bottle and clean in circular motions with light pressure. Avoid using excessive force or rough cloths.
- Precision Reflectors Gen2 (Touchproof): Clean only with clean water and a C-Cleaning cloth or sponge. Do not use isopropanol or any alcohol-based cleaners, as these may damage the surface.
What is the C-Sponge for?
The C-Sponge helps clean your reflectors without damaging the surface. It is optimized for DIFF 4, where the surface structure is most delicate. Use it dry or slightly dampened, but never scrub aggressively.
Can I wash the cleaning cloths?
Yes. The C-Cleaning cloths are made from very fine micro fleece, specially designed to protect the delicate surface of your Precision Reflectors. Wash them in cold water without fabric softener and let them air dry. Do not iron or tumble dry, as heat can damage the microstructure.
What if I touch the reflector surface by accident?
Always clean it immediately with the appropriate method for your reflector type. Fingerprints can affect reflection quality.
Do small scratches or dents affect performance?
Small imperfections may slightly impact the reflected light pattern, but the reflectors are surprisingly forgiving. Touchproof (Gen2) surfaces themselves cannot be resurfaced or replaced individually. However, you can upgrade from Gen1 to Gen2 reflectors through the Future Proof Program or by purchasing a single Touchproof reflector (without sleeve) from your dealer.
How should I store or transport the reflectors?
Always use the sleeves and bags provided. Do not place heavy objects on reflectors, and avoid exposure to sharp or abrasive surfaces.
What temperatures can the reflectors tolerate?
Reflectors are safe for use between -25°C and +75°C (-13°F to 167°F).
How do I replace the Safety Wedge on a C-Wheel?
The Safety Wedge is user-replaceable. You can order spares via our dealer network or support team.
Workflow
How do Precision Reflectors work?
Precision Reflectors work by diffusing light in a controlled, precise manner. They maintain beam control while softening shadows, creating a natural look with exact light placement. Lightbridge Precision Reflectors produce the industry's first spill light–free diffused light offering unmatched control with a clean beam edge. Different DIFF levels shape the quality and intensity of the reflected light to suit your creative needs.
What should I do if the reflector gets wet or dirty on set?
Dry it with a clean cloth and inspect for residue. Clean it according to your reflector type (Gen1 or Gen2). Don't store wet.
What is the difference between DIFF 0 to DIFF 4?
- DIFF 0: Sharp, mirror-like beam
- DIFF 1: Punchy light with defined edges
- DIFF 2: Softer, cinematic light
- DIFF 3: Gentle ambient reflection
- DIFF 4: Very soft, almost subsurface-like bounce
All DIFF levels deliver consistent results across both Gen1 and Gen2 reflectors. Each surface provides 97% total light reflection and 100% color consistency, ensuring predictable and repeatable lighting performance on set.
Light Sources
Which lights can I use with Precision Reflectors?
Precision Reflectors work with all light sources from LEDs and HMIs to tungsten, fluorescent, and natural sunlight. Whether you're using small practicals or high-output studio lights, the reflectors shape the beam with precision.
Rule of thumb: What goes in - comes out, plus the level of DIFF (1–4). The quality of light you input (hard, soft, color temperature, etc.) is precisely reflected and shaped by the DIFF surface you choose. The reflector does not add spill or artifacts, it refines and controls the beam to match your creative intent.
Grip & Mounting
How do I mount a reflector safely?
Use Lightbridge C-Wheels or standard grip heads with care. Always tighten securely and check your rig before lighting.
Can I use reflectors with Snapbridge?
Yes. Snapbridge is designed to work seamlessly with our reflectors, either in soft or dark mode.
Are all reflectors compatible with existing bags and mounts?
Yes. All current and Touchproof reflectors are backward-compatible with existing Lightbridge accessories.
Touchproof Reflectors
What are Touchproof reflectors and how are they different?
Touchproof reflectors (Gen2) are more durable and fingerprint-resistant. They require only water for cleaning and are more robust for on-set use. They provide the same optical performance as previous versions.
Can I upgrade to Touchproof if I already have reflectors?
Yes. You can upgrade from Gen1 to Gen2 either through the Future Proof Program or by purchasing single Touchproof reflectors (without sleeve) individually. While we do not offer a special upgrade price, Gen2 reflectors are now available at a much lower price compared to the previous pricing structure. All Touchproof reflectors are compatible with existing Lightbridge grip and bag systems.
Transport & Storage
What's the best way to transport reflectors?
Use the Lightbridge bags and sleeves provided. Avoid stacking heavy items on them. Treat them like lenses or monitors for best longevity.
Can I get replacement parts (e.g., sleeves, wedges)?
Yes. Please contact your dealer or our support team for part orders.
